While the main antagonist of Final Fantasy 8 prevented Renois from occurring by separating the body and soul, other magical forces were responsible for keeping the balance in the world. Many powerful artifacts had to be used to maintain order and prevent Renois from happening, such as the conflict between the two main characters: Squall and Seifer. Furthermore, Ultimecia, the main villain of the game, was also a powerful sorceress with the ability to manipulate time, allowing her to interfere with the events taking place in the game.
